PARIS (Sputnik) – Earlier in the day, dozens of protesters gathered opposite El Khomri’s home in Paris, chanting slogans condemning the reform, originally proposed by the labor minister. Police later dispersed the protesters.
"The president strongly condemned these actions. We live in a democratic state, and everyone has the right to assemble and express their opinions, but such actions cross the line – they constitute an unacceptable act of violence," Le Foll told reporters.
The labor bill has given a rise to multiple protests across France in the past months. Among the reforms proposed by Prime Minister Manuel Valls’ government are highly unpopular attempts to increase daily working hours and simplify firing procedures.
