MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, a group of students tried to march through the center of country's capital of Port Moresby, protesting against government and corruption in Papua New Guinea.
According to the ABC broadcaster, police officers tried to detain the head of student council, but after they failed they started shooting in the crowd of students.
The broadcaster added that police had not commented the deadly incident yet.
The students have been protesting against country's Prime Minister Peter O'Neill for five weeks, accusing the head of the government of corruption and the problems in country's economy.
