ASTANA (Sputnik) — Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) members need to work out additional measures to fight international terrorism due to serious threats and constant challenges, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said Wednesday.
"I would like to note that in this difficult time, when we face constant challenges and quite serious threats in Central Asia, South-East Asia, Syria, Afghanistan, there is need for a common understanding and consolidated actions in the fight against international terrorism," Shoigu said at a meeting with his Kazakh counterpart Imangali Tasmagambetov.
"We need to discuss everything that goes on in the world and work out additional joint measures against terrorism. I hope we will have this opportunity today," added the Russian minister, who is set to take part in a SCO defense ministers' meeting later on Wednesday.
