ANKARA (Sputnik) — The law will enter into force after the publication in the T.C. Resmi Gazete, the national only official journal.
"The president sent the law 6718 'On Amending the Constitution of the Republic of Turkey' to the prime minister's office for publication," the statement reads.
The Turkish parliament adopted the bill on removing lawmakers’ immunity in May. The document was supported by the ruling Justice and Development Party. The critics of the bill claim that it is aimed at excluding opposition lawmakers from parliament and targeting pro-Kurdish parliamentarians for their political views.
