MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The majority of Ukrainians believe that the conflict in Donbas must be settled through international negotiations and not by force, a poll conducted by the Kiev International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) revealed Thursday.
On total, 66.7 percent of Ukrainians believe the international negotiations should be continued while 19.6 percent believe the hostilities should be stepped up. At the same time, 13.7 respondents could not answer the question concerning the means of the conflict resolution.
The poll was conducted between May 20 and June 2, with 2,043 people interviewed.
Kiev launched a military operation against independence-seeking militias in southeastern Ukraine in April 2014. The confrontation has claimed more than 9,000 lives, according to UN estimates.
In February 2015, Russia, Germany, France and Ukraine worked out the Minsk ceasefire agreement to settle the conflict in eastern Ukraine.
