The shooting occurred outside the baggage claim area. Witnesses describe hearing as many as nine shots.
One person is injured according to the Dallas Fire Department and has been transported to an area hospital.
According to assistant chief of police Randall Blankenbaker with the Dallas Police Department, the incident began as a domestic violence situation when an unidentified man began attacking a woman in a vehicle. The man then charged police officers with a rock and police opened fire. Police believe the man to be the father of the woman's children, but do not believe the children were in the car at the time of the attack.

Early reports suggest that the suspect may have screamed "shoot me" at the officer, and Blankenbaker said police will investigate those claims.
The area near the shooting has been evacuated. Planes were still landing at the airport immediately after the incident, but not departing.
Following the shooting, panicked witnesses fled past screening checkpoints, forcing airport security to recheck passengers.
