MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Oleg Syromolotov discussed with UK Ambassador in Moscow Laurie Bristow security measures at 2016 UEFA European Championship (Euro 2016), Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement Friday.
"Opinions on relevant issues of counter-terrorism cooperation and more efficient international response to terrorist threat were exchanged, in particular in the context of security at 2016 UEFA European Championship in France," the statement reads.
Euro 2016 will kick off later on Friday in France. The games will take place on stadiums all over the country, including in Paris, Marseille, Bordeaux and Toulouse. Russia and England are set to have their first game on June 11 at Marseille's stadium Velodrome.
