MOSCOW (Sputnik) – On Saturday, a twin blast hit a southern Damascus suburb killing at least 16 and injuring over 50 people. The Daesh militant group claimed responsibility for the attacks.
"Moscow strongly condemns yet another violent action of terrorists on Syrian soil. We express our condolence and compassion to family members and close ones of the victims and we wish a speedy recovery to all injured. We reiterate our support of Syria's nation and government in their struggle against terrorist threat," the statement said.
Syria has been in a state of civil war since 2011, with government forces fighting several opposition factions, including the notorious Daesh, outlawed in Russia and many other countries.
