MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The man, who is suspected of preparing terror attacks as part of Daesh, was detained in the airport of northeastern Morocco's city of Oujda, according to the Italian Post online newspaper.
The Italian national came to the African country from Belgium, the newspaper reported, citing the Moroccan Interior Ministry.
The newspaper added that the detained person had been indoctrinated by radical Islamist ideas and had even tried to join Daesh training camps in 2014.
Daesh, which is outlawed in many countries, including Russia, is known for its successful propaganda and social media recruitment, which primarily target young people from around the world.
