NEW DELHI (Sputnik) — An Indian Air Force MiG-27 fighter aircraft crashed in Jodhpur in the northern Indian state of Rajasthan, Indian Air Force said in a statement on Monday.

"There has been IAF Mig 27 crash close to Jodhpur Airbase, 5 kms from the Airbase. The aircraft was on a training Mission. Pilots have ejected safely. A Court of Inquiry has been ordered in the incident," the statement read.
Earlier local media reported that several houses were damaged in the crash.

The reasons behind the crash are still unknown.
