WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — US national Omar Mateen, killed 49 people and injured 53 at Pulse gay nightclub in Orlando on Sunday. The Orlando massacre has become the deadliest mass shooting in the history of the United States.

The mayor praised the actions of the police, medical personnel, as well as the FBI in the wake of the attack.
Orlando Police Chief John Mina confirmed in a press conference on Monday that Mateen pledged allegiance to Daesh jihadists. Mateen was killed by the police at the shooting scene.
