UN Secretary General's Special Envoy for Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed is to submit draft settlement deal to Yemeni negotiations parties in Kuwait in a short time, a diplomatic source told Sputnik on Monday.

KUWAIT CITY (Sputnik) — Talks between the Yemeni government and the Houthi rebels brokered by the United Nations in Kuwait have brought no results so far.

"The envoy is giving the final touch to the document which is nearly completed to be tabled to the delegations at the general session Monday or Tuesday," the source said.

The draft deal is said to include key points discussed at the negotiations, including establishment of a joint interim government, supreme military supervision committee as well as mechanisms of fire arms surrender and rebel troops withdrawal.

Yemen has been engulfed in a military conflict between the government headed by Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi and Houthi rebels, the country’s main opposition force. The Houthis are backed by army units loyal to former Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh.
