Orlando is home to Walt Disney's World Resort entertainment complex also known as Disney World.
On Sunday morning, a 29-year-old US citizen, Omar Mateen, opened fire in a gay nightclub in Orlando, killing 49 people and wounding 53 others before police eliminated him.
Of the original 44 patients originally brought to the Orlando Regional Medical Center, 27 remained as of Tuesday morning, according to a doctor at the hospital. Of those, six were in intensive care.
US President Barack Obama is scheduled to travel to Orlando on Thursday.
