Offensive on Daesh: Kurds Take Control of Village North of Syria's Manbij
09:12 GMT 14.06.2016 (Updated: 10:19 GMT 14.06.2016) Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have taken control of the Tal Hatbat village and the surrounding territory north of the city of Manbij in Syria's Aleppo province, a Kurdish source told Sputnik on Tuesday.
DAMASCUS (Sputnik) — According to the source, SDF fighters clashed with Daesh, which resulted in the deaths of eight terrorists.
In late May, the SDF troops announced an offensive against Daesh. One of the goals of the operation supported by the US-led coalition is to liberate the city of Manbij.
The US-Russia-brokered ceasefire entered into force across Syria on February 27. Terrorist organizations such Daesh and al-Nusra Front, both outlawed in Russia, are excluded from the truce.
