MOSCOW (Sputnik) — UEFA said earlier on Tuesday that Russia would receive a 150,000 euro fine and a suspended disqualification from Euro 2016 following crowd disturbances at last week's England-Russia match in Marseille.
"This decision was foreordained. There was a decision by the executive committee and they just confirmed this decision now. The punishment is excessive, but we cannot influence it. The fine is massive, we [Russian Football Union] are a public organization, after all. But what does the team have to do with it? It's not their fault," Mutko told R-Sport.
After the match, the clashes between dozens of Russian and English fans erupted at the stadium. Later, two Russian nationals were detained after scuffles between Russian and English fans at the Velodrome stadium in Marseille.
