PARIS (Sputnik) — France should expel all Russian and UK football hooligans involved in violent clashes at the 2016 UEFA European Championship hosted by the country, French government spokesman Stephane Le Foll said Wednesday.
"It is necessary not merely to identify, but to expel everyone involved in clashes and in street fights in a direct or indirect way," Le Foll told a press conference, adding that such behavior by fans was unacceptable.
On June 11, after the Euro-2016 group stage match between the Russian and English national teams ended in a draw in the French city of Marseille, violence broke out between some fans, resulting in over 30 people sustaining injuries, one of whom is in a critical condition.
