PARIS (Sputnik) — On Tuesday, French police blocked 43 Russian football supporters in a bus on their way to the city of Lille, where the Russian national team was set to play against Slovakia. The supporters were transferred to Marseille. On Wednesday, the French police released 11 fans.
At the moment, the football supporters' documents are being looked at by the French authorities, and it is unclear when the decision will be made, the diplomat told RIA Novosti.
On June 11, the Russian national football team played with England in a UEFA Euro-2016 match in the French city of Marseille. After the match, clashes between Russian and English fans erupted at the stadium and in the port town. As a result, at least 30 people were injured.
