MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The ROC athletes' commission has sent an "open letter" to IOC President Thomas Bach asking for "support in upholding" the right of "clean" athletes to take part in the games.

"The ROC shares and supports the views presented in the appeal by the athletes. We believe that that 'clean' athletes should not share responsibility with doping users and must not be stripped of the right to perform at the Olympics," Zhukov told R-Sport news agency.

"The sanctions against confirmed doping users must be extremely harsh, inevitable, but at the same time they must be targeted individually," Zhukov stressed.
