ST. PETERSBURG (Sputnik) – In September, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered that an agreement be signed providing for the establishment of a Russian air base in Belarus.
"It is not being discussed at the moment," Igor Petrishenko said, on the sidelines of the the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), when asked if the issue had been resolved.
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has dismissed rumors about potential bases, purportedly spread by Belarusian opposition elements. He stressed that Minsk and Moscow had not discussed the issue.
In October, the presidents discussed details regarding the establishment of a Russian airbase in Belarus.
