Russia should be included in a European missile shield, former French President Nicolas Sarkozy said.

ST. PETERSBURG (Sputnik) — Russia should be included in the development of a joint European missile defense system, former French President Nicolas Sarkozy said Thursday.

"I want Europe to have a missile shield, it would be good if NATO had such a shield, but the Russians should be included in this," Sarkozy said at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
