Russia to Respond 'Symmetrically' to Any NATO Military Build Up
YUZHNO-SAKHALINSK (Sputnik) — Moscow considers deployment of NATO's units on a rotational basis along Russia's borders to be a violation, Kremlin Chief of Staff Sergei Ivanov said Saturday.

"Of course, it is," Ivanov told Russia's Vesti v Subbotu weekly news program on the Rossiya television channel, responding to a question on whether NATO's units deployment constituted a violation.

He explained that there was no difference whether they were stationed permanently or changed every six months.

NATO defense ministers agreed Wednesday to a rotational deployment of four battalions in the Baltic states and Poland. The majority of the contingent, to be deployed as early as in 2017, will comprise military personnel from the United States, Germany and the United Kingdom.
