WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The case to review the assault weapons ban has been declined, SCOTUS blog reported.
The US states of New York and Connecticut passed a package of gun-control laws following the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, which left 26 dead.
In October, the Second US Circuit Court of Appeals in New York ruled that the laws, banning some 100 types of firearms, were constitutional.
However, gun rights advocates filed a challenge to the regulations.
The Second Amendment to the US Constitution guarantees the right of Americans to bear arms.
