BRUSSELS (Sputnik) — The president added that the conditions include the establishment of ties with moderate regional parties, including Jordan and Egypt, to secure stability, as well as the development of the Israeli and Palestinian infrastructure to improve standards of living, particularly in the Gaza Strip.
"If the international community really wants and counts on being a constructive player, it should make efforts not to resume negotiations just for negotiations, but to create trust between the parties and proper conditions for the success of the talks in the future," Rivlin told the European Parliament.
Rivlin noted that joint projects in the areas of energy, environment, tourism, education and culture would also bring stability to the mutual ties.
Relations between the two countries have been wrecked for decades, as Palestinians have been seeking diplomatic recognition for their independent state on the territories of the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, which is partially occupied by Israel, and the Gaza Strip.
