Call for Halt to EU-Turkey Deal After More Journalists Arrested
Juncker said Wednesday in an interview with Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung that Turkey will receive a visa-free regime with the EU only if it fulfills all 72 required conditions of the deal.

"If Erdogan would seriously try to get out of the agreement on refugees, then it will be his job to explain the Turks why they cannot to travel to Europe without a visa," Juncker told the newspaper.

In response, Erdogan criticized Juncker's statement, saying that he doesn't have any idea about Turkey and its residents. He also stated that in contrast to Europe Ankara really cares about the fate of the refugees and keeps its promises.

"You do not know the Turkish people. These people are not after travel without visas. It is you who is concerned about what would happen if Turkey opens its doors and all the refugees will go to Europe[…]. At the same time we take care of the refugees. Why? Because we care about people, unlike you. You don't care about anything like that," Turkish news agency Anadolu cited Erdogan as saying.

"And here is your ugly face. And then you are angry when Erdogan shows your ugly face [to the world]. So you are trying to get rid of Erdogan," the Turkish President said talking about himself in the third person.

Turkey Visa-Free Deal Delayed Over 'Dysfunctional' EU Refugee Policy
In mid-March, Brussels and Ankara agreed on a deal, under which Turkey pledged to take back all undocumented migrants who arrive in the European Union through its territory in exchange for Syrian refugees accommodated in Turkey, on a one-for-one basis. In return, the 28-nation bloc pledged to accelerate the Turkish EU accession bid and introduce a visa-free regime between Turkey and the bloc.

In Erdogan's opinion, the accession process is being deliberately slowed down. The politician stated that the EU is not in a hurry to accept Turkey as its member as it is "a country with a predominantly Muslim population."
