MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Earlier in June, John Letts and Sally Lane were charged with funding terrorism for sending 1,723 pounds (some $2,500 at the current exchange rate) to their son, who is believed to be fighting alongside Daesh in Syria, the BBC broadcaster said.
They remained in custody for a week before the judge decided to grant the couple bail, ruling they were "perfectly decent people" who had lost their liberty "because of the love of their child."
Daesh is a terrorist group, outlawed in many countries including the United Kingdom and Russia. The group has seized large areas in Syria and Iraq, declaring a caliphate in the territories under its control.
