NEW DELHI (Sputnik) — India, along with Pakistan, is expected to sign a preliminary SCO membership memorandum at the ongoing summit.
"President Xi welcomed India’s accession to the SCO and said it would strengthen it. Prime Minister Modi thanked President Xi for China’s support to India’s membership of the SCO. Prime Minister Modi urged China to make a fair and objective assessment of India’s application and judge it on its own merit," the statement said.

The SCO is a political, economic and military alliance that includes Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
