MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Last week, two-year-old Lane Graves died after he was dragged into the Seven Seas Lagoon at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando by an alligator.
The FWC announced on Wednesday that the investigation into the attack was over.
"The FWC is confident that the alligator responsible for the attack has been removed. This conclusion is based on expert analyses and observations by staff with extensive experience in investigating fatal alligator bite incidents. The conclusion took into account the proximity to the attack site of removed alligators and witness descriptions," the FWC said in a statement.
Trappers had removed six alligators from the Seven Seas Lagoon area and have not found any more alligators capable of carrying out the attack, according to FWC.
"No additional alligators of the size capable of the attack have been observed or taken since June 16," the FWC stressed, saying that alligator trapping activities have been suspended in the Seven Seas Lagoon area, where the boy was drowned by the alligator on June 14.
The boy’s parents have been identified as Matt and Melissa Graves from Elk Horn, Nebraska. They were unable to save their child when he was dragged into the man-made lake at the Walt Disney resort while playing near the water, which had "no swimming" signs.
The body of Lane Graves was found intact on June 15.
