WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The US authorities "designated Kanyama for being responsible for or complicit in, or having engaged in, directly or indirectly, the targeting of women, children, or any civilians through the commission of acts of violence, abduction, or forced displacement," the release stated.
In 2013-2014, Kanyama served as the primary commander of a police operation Likofi set up to combat criminal delinquency in Kinshasa. However, instead of enforcing law, the operation resulted in dozens of deaths, according to the Treasury.
