MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Thursday, the United Kingdom held a referendum on its membership of the European Union. Earlier on Friday, it was announced that 51.9 percent of people supported the move to leave the bloc.
“It is a huge demonstration that the people voted against the establishment not only here in the UK, but also against the Brussels establishment. And I think it is just the beginning of what we are going to see across the EU, where citizens want to be properly represented by their governments,” Richard Tice said.
“For the UK it is a huge opportunity to strip away on its regulations, to start controlling our own laws and our own borders. So there is a bit of market turmoil uncertainty, but already sterling is rallying against the euro and the dollar,” Tice said.
European Council President Donald Tusk invited 27 European leaders to discuss Brexit in Brussels on Friday.
