MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The call for a rerun, which was posted on the UK parliament’s website, has long since passed the 100,000 signatures needed for the legislature to consider a debate on it.
A rather mischievous question… what happens if over 17 million people sign the petition for a second referendum? https://t.co/O9GhhL3M6R

The United Kingdom voted Thursday to leave the European Union by 52 percent to 48 percent. Some 30 million cast ballots, which is over 72 percent of the population.
"We the undersigned call upon HM Government to implement a rule that if the remain or leave vote is less than 60% based a turnout less than 75% there should be another referendum," the petition reads.
UK Prime Minister David Cameron, who declared he would resign after results came out, warned previously there would be no turning back once Brits vote to leave the European Union.
