UNITED NATIONS (Sputnik) — The United Nations has condemned a UN peacekeeper killing on June 24 in the Central African Republic capital of Bangui by an unidentified armed man, the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) said in a press release Monday.
"MINUSCA condemns in the strongest terms this shameful and unjustified act," the press release reads.
According to the UN Secretary-General's Special Representative, Parfait Onanga-Anyanga, attack on a peacekeeper could be considered a war crime.
"Everything will be done in order to find those who carried out this act and bring them to justice," Onanga-Anyanga was quoted as saying.
MINUSCA expressed its condolences to the family of the victim.
