MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Brexit vote could cause a wave of attempts to hold similar referendums in other EU countries, the speaker of the Federation Council, Russia's upper house of parliament, said Monday.
"I don't exclude that this could cause a wave of attempts to hold similar referendums in other countries," Valentina Matvienko told reporters.
The majority of Brits voted in Thursday’s referendum to quit the European Union, despite London, Scotland, and Northern Ireland voting predominantly against.
