The research team was led by Dr. B. A. Golakia, Head of the Junagadh Agricultural University Biotechnology Department. The team of researchers used a gas chromatography mass spectrometry method to analyze the urine samples and after four years of extensive research, traces of gold have been found in the Gyr cow.
"Only ancient Indian scriptures mentioned the presence of gold in cow urine, but now after extensive research and analyzing 400 samples of Gyr cow urine, we have found traces of gold," Dr. Golakia told reporters
The cow's urine was found to contain 5,100 compounds of which 388 possess immense medicinal value.
After the research on Gyr cattle, the team of researchers led by Dr. Golakia will test the urine samples of all indigenous Indian cow breeds for the traces of gold.
