MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has not yet offered his candidacy in the Islamic republic’s presidential elections next year, a source close to the former leader told Sputnik on Tuesday.
"What is being said about Ahmadinejad’s intention to put forward his candidacy at the presidential election is inaccurate information. It is too early to talk about anyone’s plans to stand for the presidency," the source said.
Ahmadinejad was succeeded by Hassan Rouhani in 2013 after serving two four-year terms.
