VIENNA (Sputnik) — Russia and European Union are reexamining the current state of bilateral relations in order to develop further cooperation, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Aleksey Meshkov said Tuesday.
"Now, a part of these mechanism, including the Russia-EU summit has been put on hold. Some of them continue to work. We carried out some examination [of relations]. Now our colleagues from the European Union say that they are also intending to examine the relations and then see how to move on," he concluded.
Brussels has introduced a series of sanctions against Russia following the 2014 reunification of Crimea with Russia and the crisis in Ukraine. In response to the EU restrictive measures, Russia imposed an embargo against some food products originating from the countries that targeted it with sanctions.
