"Plaid Cymru is also issuing a plea to our EU partners to open diplomatic offices in Cardiff so that a firm foundation can be laid for constructive and distinct relations between Wales and the rest of Europe," party’s spokesperson for external affairs, Steffan Lewis said as quoted by the Guardian.
He added that Wales needed its own "international voice" before London activated Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty triggering a two-year exit process and also before Wales was bound by "the isolationist agenda that is prevailing in Westminster".
On June 23, the United Kingdom held a referendum to determine whether or not the country should leave the European Union. According to the final results, 51.9 percent of voters, or 17.4 million people, decided to support Brexit, while about 16.1 million opposed it. A majority of voters in Wales and England voted in favor of leaving the bloc.
