Istanbul Attack 'Sequel' to Brussels Bombing - US Homeland Security Chair
US House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Michael McCaul said the Ataturk airport attack in Istanbul was like a sequel to the Brussels airport bombing.
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Daesh is likely responsible for a series of attacks on Istanbul’s Ataturk international airport, US House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Michael McCaul said on Wednesday.
"I believe this most likely is an ISIS [Daesh] attack yesterday in Istanbul," McCaul stated in an interview with MSNBC. "This was like a sequel to Brussels but far more deadly than Brussels was."
On Tuesday evening, three suicide blasts rocked the Istanbul airport international terminal. According to the Turkish Justice Ministry, the attack has left
41 people dead and more than 200 injured.
No terrorist organization has yet officially claimed the attack, but the Turkish authorities have said Daesh is the main suspect.
Terrorist group Daesh is outlawed in many countries around the world, including the United States and Russia.
