MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The Kremlin has not yet decided on anti-terrorism package of laws the Russian upper house of parliament approved a day earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Thursday.
"This [package] will arrive at the president’s desk and will be considered by him. So far the president has not taken any decisions," Peskov told reporters when asked whether President Vladimir Putin planned to veto the laws.
According to the legislation, the providers, messengers and social networks will be obliged to keep information about their users' calls and chats on Russian territory for three years, while the contents of the calls and chats should be kept for six months.
According to mobile operators, storing user data for six months as required by the new legislation will lead to higher tariffs and negatively impact the connection quality.
