Chinese PM: Global Effort Needed to End Market Uncertainty Caused by Brexit
BERLIN (Sputnik) – According to Steinmeir, in case the United Kingdom does not implement clearly defined "response efforts" to be set out by the bloc, it will be denied full access to the EU internal market.

"The status outside the EU will be very different from full membership. The United Kingdom, after leaving [the bloc] will become a third and will be able to access the European single market only through negotiated agreements," the minister said, as quoted by the Spiegel newspaper.

On June 23, the United Kingdom held a referendum to determine whether or not the country should leave the European Union. According to the final results, 51.9 percent of voters, or 17.4 million people, decided to support Brexit, while about 16.1 million opposed it.

Prime Minister David Cameron, who headed the Remain campaign and announced his resignation following defeat, said that the next UK government would have to make significant effort to gain access to the EU single market.
