SOCHI (Sputnik) — Bulgaria wants to cooperate with Russia in the energy field, but only in compliance with rules set out by the European Union, Bulgarian Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov said Friday.
"Bulgaria is interested in energy cooperation that would be coordinated with the European Commission and comply with EU rules," Mitov told RIA Novosti.
The Bulgarian minister said he was planning to discuss energy cooperation, as well as the consequences of Brexit, with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov during their upcoming meeting in Russia's Sochi.
Mitov also stated that a discussion on resuming the South Stream project was "quite likely" to take place.
