MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The survey by Sky Data Snap Poll conducted by SMS on June 30 among 1,062 respondents gave 47 percent to Theresa May making her the clear leader, as the second most popular choice, lawmaker Michael Gove scored only 9 percent.
The second question in the survey concerned the need for early elections once a new minister has been chosen. It showed a public divide as 46 percent were against fresh elections while 47 percent were in favor.
On June 23, the United Kingdom held a referendum to determine whether or not the country should leave the European Union. According to the final results, 51.9 percent of voters, or 17.4 million people, decided to support Brexit, while about 16.1 million opposed it.
After the results were revealed, UK Prime Minister David Cameron announced that he would resign by October and the Conservative Party launched a campaign to elect a new leader.
