MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Friday, a rocket launched from Gaza landed inside Sderot, damaging an empty kindergarten building. No casualties were reported and no one has claimed responsibility for the attack.
"In response to the rocket attack that hit Sderot last night IAF targeted 4 sites in Gaza, components of #Hamas' operational infrastructure," IDF spokesman Peter Lerner said in his official Twitter account.
Sderot is one of the closest Israeli towns to the Israeli-Gaza border, and lies within a 15-second grad rocket range from the enclave.
The incident comes just a day after a Middle East Quartet report revealed that attacks in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict have fallen this year due to the efforts by Palestinian Authority security forces, as well as security coordination between Israel and Palestine.
