MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Humanitarian aid has been delivered to low-income families in the Syrian provinces of Homs and Aleppo, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Sunday.
"Low-income families of Tell Shnan (Homs province) and Ain Assan (Aleppo province) have received four tons of humanitarian cargo, with flour, rice, canned meat and fish, and food products," the ministry said in a daily bulletin posted on its website.
Syria has been mired in civil war since 2011, with government forces fighting numerous opposition factions and Islamic extremist groups.
The Russia-US brokered ceasefire regime in Syria came into force on February 27. Al-Nusra Front and Daesh terrorist groups, outlawed in Russia, are excluded from the truce.
