NEW DELHI (Sputnik) — According to local police, a 25-year-old Daesh (ISIL/ISIS) suspect identified as Mohammad Masiuddin (alias Musa) was nabbed from a train at Burdwan Railway Station while he was on his way to Labhpur in Birbhum district. The suspected terrorist is being interrogated by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at its headquarter in Kolkata.
Police have recovered a gun and a sharp weapon, as well as Afghani and Syrian currency. India's National Investigation Agency (NIA) is probing his possible links with Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) as well with Daesh.
Indian intelligence sources told Sputnik that Masiuddin had been active on social media and is fluent in several languages.
The arrest comes in the wake of a terror attack in the Bangladesh capital Dhaka in which 20 people were killed.
The Indian state of West Bengal, which borders Bangladesh, has been on high alert after the Dhaka terror attack. Border Security Forces (BSF) has intensified their vigil along the Indo-Bangladesh border. Earlier in March this year, the NIA arrested an engineering student suspected of being a Daesh operative in the Birbhum district of West Bengal.
