Josefa Dias da Costa, also known as Graciane, became famous after she posted a series of unusual pictures of herself, which she took to cheer up her children, on social networks. As a result, the woman became a popular meme well known throughout Brazil.

The 35-years-old mother of four, who lives in Monte das Gameleiras in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, started taking pictures of herself in unusual situations for laughs, in order to cheer up her children.

One of her children suffers from a rare degenerative disease known as Duchenne muscular dystrophy, and has to undergo medical procedures twice a week in the city of Natal, the state capital. Her youngest child is also being monitored by doctors for the symptoms of this ailment. Graciane’s poses, which she almost always strikes while in an elevated position, help cheer up the entire family.
Graciene, a recipient of aid per the Bolsa Família social welfare program, says that she doesn’t sell the produce from her farm as all of it goes to sustain her family.
According to Graciene, the idea to make these photos and videos came up a little over a year ago when she managed to purchase a cellphone with a camera.
