MOSCOW (Sputnik) — South Africa’s double-amputee sprinter Oscar Pistorius on Wednesday was handed by the High Court in Pretoria a 6-year jail term for murder of his girlfriend and model Reeva Steenkamp in 2013 after his original manslaughter conviction was overturned last December.
"In the result, the sentence that I impose on the accused… is six years imprisonment," judge Thokozile Masipa told the court.
In February 2013, Pistorius had shot Steenkamp four times through a locked toilet door, but maintained he mistook Steenkamp for an intruder.
