WARSAW (Sputnik) — Duda added that security-building measures would be of a purely defensive nature aimed at protecting the bloc's member states.

"The alliance should and will pass specific decisions to enhance security where it is needed. At the moment it is needed on the eastern flank of the North Atlantic Alliance and in the south," Duda said at the joint press conference with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

"The Alliance has grown stronger in a bid to prevent war and has fulfilled its task. The Alliance has never been an aggressor or an occupant," he said.

The NATO summit in Warsaw kicks off on July 8 and is to last for two days. The summit is expected to endorse the decision made at the NATO defense ministers' meeting in June to deploy four multinational battalions to Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland with some 800-1,200 troops in each unit.
