WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The committee was established to investigate the 2012 terrorist attack on the US diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Lybia that killed US Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans.
When asked by reporters how the committee voted on the approval of the final report, Gowdy responded "7-4."
Gowdy pointed out that the committee is unable to release the report at present because the Obama administration is in the process of reviewing the committee transcripts.
"[T]hey have to redact them so classified information, even sometimes sensitive information, is not included," he explained.
Gowdy also said he will not release the committee’s report unless all transcripts, emails and documents from the investigation are included, which he said requires cooperation from the Obama Administration.
