WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — McMillon explained that she felt a connection with the families of the slain police officers over their shared loss.
"I’m sorry that it happened. Violence [does] not take care of violence," McMillion told CBS News.
Sterling was shot and killed on Tuesday by two police officers in the city of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Video footage shared on social media appeared to show police pinning Sterling to the ground before firing at least four shots into his chest.
Five Dallas police officers were shot and killed at a protest in the city that took place following the death of two black men who were killed by police in separate incidents in Louisiana and Minnesota. Police killed Johnson after the attack by exploding a bomb in the location where he was cornered.
Earlier in the day, Dallas Police Chief David Brown said the suspect in the deadly police attack been killed by a bomb planted by the law enforcement after negotiations had broken down.
The US Department of Justice has opened an investigation into Sterling’s death.
