"I'm gonna play no part in this leadership election. I didn't vote in it in the parliamentary stages and I won't be voting in the next stages as a member of the party. I'm not going to make any comment about the leadership election either. I think that it's right as the current leader of the Conservative party and Prime Minister to allow this contest to go ahead and to say absolutely nothing and welcome my successor whoever she may be," Cameron told reporters answering the question about the candidacy of Minister of State for Energy Andrea Leadsom.
Leadsom as well as Home Secretary Theresa May are two remaining candidates to head the UK Conservative Party and to become the country’s new prime minister. The decision will be made by 150,000 Tory party members, who will vote to elect their next leader by mail until September.
